WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT MONEY
Gold and silver are mentioned hundreds of times in the Bible—more than any other material resource—underscoring their enduring value and significance. In Genesis, gold is described as “good” (Genesis 2:12), signifying its inherent worth in God’s creation. In Revelation, we see gold again, forming the very streets of heaven (Revelation 21:21), reminding us that true riches are found in God’s presence and eternal glory. Yet, in between these two bookends of scripture, we also find warnings about wealth: its dangers, its ability to corrupt, and its inability to save. “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil” (1 Timothy 6:10). This tension—between the blessings of wealth and its potential to mislead—is at the heart of God’s teaching on gold and silver. The Bible does not condemn wealth; it condemns misplaced trust in wealth. It does not forbid us from prospering; it calls us to prosper righteously . Wealth is not the problem; it is the heart behind how wealth is used that matters to God. As Christians, we are not only recipients of God’s blessings but also stewards of His resources. The cattle on a thousand hills, the silver in the earth, and the gold in the rivers—all belong to Him. Psalm 24:1 boldly declares, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.” If all we have comes from God, then the question is not whether we should manage it, but how we should manage it. Will we use it for selfish gain, or will we dedicate it to God’s glory? This booklet explores the Biblical truths surrounding wealth, focusing on the eternal significance of gold and silver. It is not just a study of scripture but a call to action for believers to align their financial decisions with God’s eternal purposes. In these uncertain times, when economies falter, currencies devalue, and systems fail, we are reminded of the unchanging truth of God’s Word: true security is found not in the riches of this world but in the treasures of heaven. “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21). As you read, let this powerful truth guide your heart, mind, and actions. May you be inspired to view wealth as a tool to honor God, to safeguard your resources in ways that reflect His wisdom, and to invest not only in material riches but in eternal rewards.
